Public Safety Advisory: Wildlife Activity in the Tunlii Community

Posted: March 31, 2026
The Yavapai-Apache Nation has received reports of recent vehicle damage believed to be caused by an animal in the Tunlii community. This is the second similar incident reported in recent weeks.
Based on observations, the animal may be a larger predator, such as a mountain lion or bobcat; however, this has not been confirmed.
Out of an abundance of caution, community members—especially those in the Tunlii area—are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings and use extra caution, particularly when walking alone or during early morning and evening hours.
If you encounter wildlife, do not approach.
To report sightings or concerns, please contact Yavapai-Apache Police Department (YAPD) Dispatch at (928) 554-8300.
The Nation will continue to monitor the situation and will share updates as more information becomes available.
