Employment Opportunity – Fuels Technician AmeriCorps Position

The U.S. Forest Service, National Partnership Office, and Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) are seeking applicants for a Fuels Technician AmeriCorps Individual Placement opportunity supporting hazardous fuels reduction projects on National Forest lands.

Position Details

  • Position: Fuels Technician, AmeriCorps Individual Placement
  • Location: Shawnee National Forest, Illinois
  • Housing provided
  • Service term: Approximately 46–48 weeks
  • Start Date: September 14, 2026
  • End Date: August 29, 2027

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • U.S. Citizen, National, or lawful permanent resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to complete required training and meet physical requirements

Benefits

  • Living allowance of approximately $650 per week
  • Additional food stipend of $200 per week
  • AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion
  • Public Land Corps (PLC) Hiring Authority Certificate
