Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is committed to fostering a diverse economy that addresses the social & economic needs of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. The Community Development Department aims to leverage new revenue streams to facilitate the creation of additional housing opportunities, expansion of infrastructure capacity, attraction of potential new businesses, and cultivation of a secure and appealing community for tribal members. The Community Development Department is responsible for the oversight of planning services, enforcement of codes and community development ordinances, utilization of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial data analysis and mapping practices, and facilitation of economic growth to enhance self-sufficiency. Prioritizing tribal sovereignty and directing projects toward tribal interests will enable the Community Development Department to effectively address the social and economic needs of tribal members through tailored initiatives.

Community Development Department Mission & Vision:

  1. Introduce a vision for continued growth tailored to the YAN community’s needs while respecting the customs and traditions that make our people thrive.
  2. Plan, enact, and promote communal and economic visions that strengthen YAN as a leading development community in the Verde Valley and Indian Country.
  3. Reinvest financial viability into economic and social development projects to bolster community morale and vitality.
  4. Uphold tribal sovereignty and the right of development to create a self-sufficient economy for the Yavapai-Apache Nation.
