Apache Burden Basket Class

The Yavapai-Apache Nation Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program invites YAN Tribal Members to participate in an Apache Burden Basket Class led by YAN Tribal Artist Violet Diaz. The class will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the history and cultural significance of the Apache Burden Basket while creating their own basket through hands-on instruction.

Class Information

Dates: Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. each day
Location: Yavapai-Apache Culture Building (Classroom)
290 W. Middle Verde Road, Camp Verde, AZ 86322

Participants will receive:

  • Instruction on the history of the Apache Burden Basket
  • Hands-on cultural teaching
  • All tools and supplies needed for the class
  • Light refreshments

Please note:

  • Seating is limited.
  • Participants must register in advance.
  • Participants must be committed to attending both days.
  • Must be a YAN Tribal Member, age 12 or older.
  • Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
