Interviewing Tribal Elders and Cultural Experts

The Yavapai-Apache Nation will be participating in a Traditional Use Study (TUS) for Tonto National Monument. This project, conducted under the guidance of the National Park Service, seeks to document traditional places, ethnographical resources, and cultural knowledge associated with the Roosevelt Lake area.

The knowledge shared will contribute to cultural preservation efforts and support post-fire rehabilitation following the 2019 Woodbury Fire and subsequent flood events.

Interview Details:

  • 6 participants will receive a $65 honorarium

  • 2 individuals will receive $165 per day for a site visit later in the year
