Yavapai-Apache Nation
Welcome!Da go teh! M’hahm’ijah! On behalf of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, I would like to welcome you to our community. As you explore this site and our community, you will find that we are a people rich in history, culture and traditional values. We hope that you enjoy your stay with us, whether it be at The Lodge at Cliff Castle, one of our amazing restaurants, Cliff Castle Casino or a special events.
Our people have inhabited the Verde Valley for centuries. As a sovereign Indian tribe, we have had to overcome many challenges, such as extermination by the United States government, incarceration and the relinquishment of our homelands. Regardless, we have maintained our sovereign states and continue to preserve our language, culture and history. Before Indian gaming was established on the reservation, the Yavapai and Apache people were reliant on the federal government. In 1995, the Nation opened Cliff Castle Casino. Since the opening of the casino, the social and economic environment on the reservation grew from non-existent to healthy and stable. Because of Indian gaming, the Yavapai-Apache Nation has had the opportunity to diversify its economy and establish a variety of tribal enterprises such as Yavapai-Apache Sand & Rock, Distant Drums RV Resort and The Lodge at Cliff Castle. Again, we welcome you to our community and hope that your experience with us is enjoyable. Sincerely, |
